![]() That could certainly be cheaper than ink in the regular cartridges for the Pro-1000.ĭespite the very good gamut, gloss and absence for clogs of the mentioned 3th party inks (Precision Colors in particular), OEM ink is better. ![]() In fact, some reputable third-party pigment inks have faded faster than some OEM dye inks.īut the safest / best ink to refill for the Pro-1000 is almost certainly not any third-party ink, but the same ink harvested from the larger cartridges (up to 700 ml) for the Pro-2000, Pro-2100, Pro-4000, Pro-4100, Pro-6000, and Pro-6100. (3) AFAIK, in real scientific testing like Aardenburg's or Wilhelm's, no third-party ink for any printer has ever tested out anywhere near as fade-resistant as the corresponding OEM ink. Assuming this is in fact true, I have no idea of the relative contributions to this problem from the inks themselves, filling / refilling procedures, and/or third-party cartridges or modifications to OEM cartridges for refilling. I am not aware of any actual data on this. (2) Anecdotally it seems that clogging and similar problems occur more frequently in printers used with third-party inks. E.U., Octoink seems to be the best-regarded. ![]() In the U.S., Cone and Precision Colors seem to be the most promising. (1) some third-party inks seem to be pretty good matches for the printed appearance of OEM inks. This is not specific to the Pro-1000 or any particular printer, but in general and across the wide experience and test results that are reported for many printers and ink, much depends on what you mean by "quality" and/or which among various qualities is or is not important to you: What will you recommend as a cheaper alternative to OEM inks, but of the same quality. So tell me ONE person that's used them both and found the 3rd party identically perfect in performance to the Canon inks.Īnyone using after market inks for the canon pro 1000 printer. Canon's "secret sauce" inks used for the PRO-1000 are not as simply made as the other models. I've not seen that stated by ANYONE using them. Unlike a number of other Epson and Canon printer models, I've seen NO evidence there is ANY 3rd party source product that will render the identical performance the OEM inks provide. But if you have any info about why not to use PC ink, then good. Is that so? Well, I can replace the print head after two sets of PC ink or replace the entire printer after three sets of PC ink so they don't need to be anywhere near 100% to make their use worthwhile.Īs the saying goes it's YOUR $$$ you do as wish. From the majority of heavy and professional users I've communicated with regarding 3rd party inks for the Pro-1000 the generally held opinion is it's NOT recommended and that NO third party provider no matter how good they tend to be is 100% as reliable and safe to use as the OEM inks.
